BJJ Milestone #1: Your First Class

Your first class in Jiu Jitsu can be a scary but exciting event. Walking into a place filled with people you don’t know,  practicing a martial art you have no idea how to do can seemingly be an insurmountable task for anyone. If you did your research you hopefully walked into a very welcoming and friendly place, filled with people eager to share their knowledge and time with you. Even though these people are extremely friendly they are also very skilled at what they do. While rolling with experienced BJJ practitioners you quickly learn that strength and size without technique mean nothing. Most people have experienced being submitted by a much smaller and weaker opponent with in the first month of training. This is part of the process and as every practitioner has gone through it. So be humbled by it, and excited to learn it.
