Team Vicente Junior

The Vicente Junior Jiu Jitsu Team is one of the fastest growing teams in art and sport of  Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Each of our affiliate academies offers the highest level of training tracing back to a credentialed lineage. Professor Vicente Junior teaches classes at each of his academies and provides an unmatched level of  personal instruction. The Vicente Junior Jiu Jitsu Team is growing everyday, with teams in both Brazil and the United States.

Born in Sao Paulo Brazil Professor Luiz Vicente Junior began his career in martial arts not with Jiu-Jitsu, but in Judo. When Vicente was only fourteen years old he began his training and committed six years to Judo, earning himself the rank of Brown Belt. It was not until later in life that Vicente was introduced to the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Vicente has fully dedicated himself to this art, training as often as two or three times a day. His years of hard work and dedication to the art has earned him the rank of Fourth Degree De La Riva Black Belt.

Vicente started training Jiu-Jitsu under Professors Marcelo (Kimura) and Diojone (Grace Barra). In 1999 he began training under Master Ricardo De La Riva, one of the world’s most renowned icons in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu even today.

Vicente Junior began competing in Brazilian state tournaments at an early age. Even before earning his black belt he was among the best fighters in his class, winning several titles and remaining undefeated to this day in his home state. Vicente’s early successes include the titles of two time regional Rio De Janeiro champion, 2005 World Cup bronze medalist, 2006 Bi-Champion of Rio De Janeiro, 2007 Pan American Championship Gold Medalist, and  2008 World Champion competing only three months after a motorcycle accident in Brazil. Vicente has gone on to claim multiple IBJJF medals facing some of the biggest names in sport Jiu Jitsu competition.  Vicente Junior not only competes regularly, but is also a certified IBJJF referee.

Vicente still competes today and for all the titles he holds he is also a magnificent instructor. Vicente fathered many programs in relation to Jiu-Jitsu, including a refresher course in both technical and pedagogical Jiu-Jitsu and a First Aid course at the School of Physical Education of the Brazilian Army in 1998. Vicente also started a social project in the capital city Maceio-AL, Brazil which teaches Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to underprivileged children who cannot afford to pay at a gym. “I’m sure I am creating a better future for them” notes Vicente. Vicente has been teaching Jiu-Jitsu since only sixteen years old, and has several academies in Northeastern Brazil and the United States. Team Vicente Jr US affiliates are listed below…
