Muay Thai Striking Fundamentals

This program is offered in our Millersville location.

This class is the perfect place to start if you have not had any previous training in Muay Thai or other striking disciplines. Our striking program has grown so much in the last year, we’ve added this class to help new students transition into the program. Our striking fundamentals is designed to avoid overwhelm and guaranteed to teach you at a comfortable pace. The concepts and techniques taught through our fundamental program will build a strong foundation, giving students all they need to progress to the more advanced classes.

The fundamental striking class is based on a strict and proven six week curriculum. Instructors focus on the basic building blocks of Muay Thai including proper fighting stance, footwork, basic punches, kicks, defense, and clinch work. Techniques are practiced both solo and with partners in various forms of warm-up exercises, drills, and technical repetition. Instructors also introduce students to the proper use of Thai pads and focus mitts. A typical class structure is as follows…

Warm-up/Footwork: 10 minutes
Defensive Techniques: 10 minutes
Offensive Techniques: 10 minutes
Drilling: 15 minutes

Students can expect to experience gains in their level of fitness, both cardiovascular and muscle strength which will carry over into other classes. The class is open to students 10 years old and up. Students are expected to focus on the instruction and give 100% effort throughout the class.

A Note About Sparring at Conquest

As students progress they will be slowly introduced to live sparring. Sparring gives you the opportunity to test your skills in a controlled environment against a resisting opponent. Our professional instructors will evaluate your skill level before allowing you to live spar during class. Safety is always a priority when we are training. While we understand injuries may occur we will take every precaution to create a safe training environment for all of our students. No pressure is placed on any students to spar before they feel ready.
